Experience and Meaning of Reality Therapeutic Group Art Therapy for Self-Expression - Centering on a Care Class in Lower Grades in Elementary School -

Abstract
This study aims to analyze the experiences and meanings and process of change of a care class in elementary school children's self-expression on the reality therapeutic group art therapy. The participant were 7 in lower grade students in P city at a care class in elementary school. The program was carried out once a week for 12 sessions, 60¢¦80 minutes each, from September and December in 2018. The data of this study were gathered and analyzed through the interviews with the agency and parents, the evaluation data according to the self-expression observation list of 3 experts, the therapy note and recording data, and the personal research journal. It drew a experience and meaning base on behavioral variation according to the operating definition of self-expression observation list and results of Krippendorff (2004)'s content analysis process. The results are following: First, it confirmed the satisfaction and happiness of children¡¯s self-expression experience was confirmed and positive self-expressions were increased and negative expressions toward others were decreased. Second, experience and meaning of this study is categorized into six. 'Art activities that start in an unfamiliar environment', 'Small beginning of curiosity and self-expression', 'Confessed to the frustration I couldn't express', 'Friction and acceptance in the process of expressing together', 'Expressing the desires i want the most' and 'Pleasure to express myself in art activities'. This study is meaningful in that it provided the basis for intervention in reality therapeutic group art therapy for healthy growth of primary care classroom children and psychological support.
